ABOUT: half-lit zine
half-lit zine is a space for film photography.
We are an open submission publication & community landing
based in Reno, NV (est. in 2025).
The goal is to bring together a community of film-photographers and create a physical publication. We extend submissions to anyone from anywhere who use film or analog processes to create photographs. All accepted submissions will be published in a collaborative ‘zine’.
One photographer from each issue will be invited to collaborate and curate a theme and selection of photographs for the next release.
zine - noun
a noncommercial often homemade or online publication usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter
Each accepted submission receives a free copy of that zine issue.

WHY FILM?
Film is a tangible substrate in which light is recorded through a chemical process as film is exposed. In order to solidify the image on the substrate, chemical intervention must occur. Develop, Stop, Fix. We then have the image permanently fixed to the film substrate.
The wonder, uncertainty, and experimentation that occurs with film is unmatched.
